Make that “Dr. Women of the Storm” - Thanks to Loyola University
Loyola University awarded an honorary doctor
of humane letters degree to Women of the Storm in recognition of the
group’s “leadership in service to the City of New Orleans and the
region” in keeping the attention of national leaders focused on the
storm’s devastation. According to Loyola president Kevin Wildes, SJ.,
the degree recognizes Women of the Storm participants’ “dedication to
the service of humanity and the spirit of community so profoundly
demonstrated by its members.” The Times-Picayune was also given an
honorary degree during the May 12 ceremonies.
