Media outlets including TIME Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, The Washington Times, The Boston Globe, and The New Orleans Times-Picayune have joined in supporting the Women of the Storm proposal, made in conjunction with Dillard, Loyola, Tulane and Xavier universities, to host one of the three official presidential debates in New Orleans in the fall of 2008.

A presidential debate in New Orleans has also been endorsed by seven presidential candidates (Biden, Brownback, Clinton, Dodd, Edwards, McCain and Obama), the Association of Junior Leagues International, The Links, Inc., the National Council of Jewish Women, the Women's Leadership Initiative of United Way, and Friends of New Orleans.
