Signs of Recovery - Business
• Nearly 84% of sales tax revenues for New Orleans have returned, indicating strong investments from residents and visitors.
• 79% of pre-Katrina levels - or more - have been attained in many areas, including total emplyers, jobs and labor force size.
• 100% of the number of "vessel calls" pre-Katrina have been recorded by the Port of New Orleans after the hurricane; cargo is at 90% of its pre-Katrina level.
• 93% of New Orleans hotel rooms are now open; the city has more restaurants than it did before the hurricane.
• 89% of the pre-Katrina level of passengers fly through Louis Armstrong airport each month.
• 70% of confirmed conventions have been retained for 2007, with 90% expected for 2008.
• 1 million-plus visitors came for Mardi Gras and Jazzfest.
