June 1, 2006 - 8:45 a.m.
Tad Gormley Stadium City Park - New Orleans, LA
The America’s WETLAND Campaign and the Women of the Storm invite you to
join a dramatization that will signal the opening day of hurricane
season and tell the nation and the world that Hurricanes Katrina and
Rita resulted in national disasters that require a national
response.
On June 1st, the first day of the Atlantic Hurricane season, please
join the Soul Rebels, the Coast Guardians, the Wetland Watchers,
celebrities, radio personalities and leaders of business, government
and the environment as they dramatize the increased danger caused by
the continuing loss of America's WETLAND and illustrate which states
have sent members of Congress to see New Orleans post-Katrina and which
haven't.
Storm Warning II will be held in Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans’
City Park, which was flooded by Hurricane Katrina. The group will
gather on a football field-sized map of the United States to raise
national awareness of the fact that America’s WETLAND is disappearing
at the rate of a football field of land every 38 minutes.
If you have any questions about the event or your participation, please
call 1 866 4 WETLAND or email the America’s WETLAND Campaign at americaswetland@mcopr.com.
